Liz Kessler is a familiar face here at Manchester Children’s Book Festival HQ. A former student of the Manchester Writing School, Liz also performed at our very first Festival in 2010.
Since then, she’s had a case of itchy feet and recently travelled around Europe in a camper van with herDalmatian dog, Poppy. We’re delighted to say Liz is now back on home soil and all set for her trip to Manchester.
A bestselling children’s author, Liz penned the Philippa Fisher fairy stories and the Emily Windsnap series. Liz’s trusty companion even inspired a series of books for her younger fans, which followed the adventures of the aptly named Poppy the Pirate Dog. With other books including A Year Without Autumn and North of Nowhere, Liz’s imaginative tales have quickly become bookshelf staples, leading to her selling almost five million books worldwide.
Mermaid fanatic Liz will be reciting stories and talking to fans at the Portico Library on Thursday 3rd July at 4pm. To add to the excitement, eager bookworms will also get an exclusive preview of Liz’s new book, Has Anyone Seen Jessica Jenkins? – an exhilarating tale of an ordinary schoolgirl turned superhero.
This event is guaranteed to provide a perfect slice of escapism for all you daydreamers out there, so book now to secure your place!
