17393050_10212189835123913_1371743862_nThe Manchester Children’s Book Festival helped host a celebration of all things Irish this weekend.

From dancing courtesy of the Keegan Academy of Irish Dancing, to music courtesy of The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band plus an assortment of literary activities were on offer to celebrate the special day.

Archives+ brought their collection of virtual archives displaying images from Young, Gifted and Green, Mayo Manchester Tradfest and more.

Our Storytelling Tent was themed to fit the festivities, as our MCBF volunteers performed a selection of classic Irish stories, folklore and limericks.

We spoke to Lisa Bach, Manchester Children’s Book Festival event organiser: “We had a lot of fun exploring the art of storytelling as it’s a key element of Irish culture that’s ingrained in their history.”

The Manchester Children’s Book Festival have plenty more dates up their sleeve throughout the year. Make sure the FREE Family Fun Day taking place on June 24 is in your diary!
